Kali Tiger
Reserve

Located in Dandeli and Joida Taluks, Kali is the only Tiger Reserve in North Karnataka. It has the largest area earmarked for Tiger Protection. Besides tigers, black leopards and hornbills are in good numbers in this forest. While River Kali is the major lifeline of the Tiger Reserve, there are several other rivers and streams that feed this forest. Some of the famous attraction of this part include Kavala Caves, Ulavi Temple, Canopy Walk, Syke’s View Point, Moulangi Eco Park, River rafting zone in Ganeshgudi, Nature Camp at Kulagi and Bird watching Trail at Old Timber Depot in Dandeli

Panchavati Recommendations

One could start the garden with planting lemon and curry leaf plants supplementing with flowering plants.

Any nectar yielding flower or bunch of flower varieties such as Ixora can be preferred.

Depending on the size of the garden, make a water place and some wooden logs where butterflies can roost.
Natural sunlight and open space within the garden helps attract butterflies.

Placing of rotting fruits can also be tried to attract a certain variety of butterflies.

Our Vision

Team Panchavati aims to inculcate interest of butterflies and other insects among the children as a hobby. Catch them young is our motto and we believe this hobby among children will be their first step into wildlife conservation. With ongoing climate crises and destruction of wildlife habitats, environmental activism is the need of the hour. Starting with planting some of the vanishing tree species of Western Ghats, Panchavati is doing its bit in wildlife conservation. We are creating awareness about conservation of some of the rare butterfly species and their habitats. We also aim to bring in change in the lives of people who are dwelling around us. We believe in strengthening the livelihoods and Panchavati will always be a voice for them.
